According to
the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 9.2 million cosmetic procedures (both
surgical and minimally-invasive) were performed in 2011 in the United States.
The top five
cosmetic surgical procedures (in order) include:
1.
Liposuction
2.
Breast Augmentation
3.
Tummy Tucks
4.
Eyelid Surgery
5.
Breast Lift
The top five
non-surgical procedures (in order) include:
- Botulinum Toxin Type A
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Laser Hair Removal
- Microdermabrasion
- IPL Laser Treatment
Women made
up the majority of the cosmetic procedures, comprising 91% of the total. This
represents a 208% increase since 1997.
As 2012
comes to a close, it will be interesting to watch how the cosmetic surgery
trends changed over the past year. While the percentages tend to rise and fall
over the years, there is no question that cosmetic surgery is here to stay, and
the demand for body enhancing procedures will continue.
If you have
been considering body contouring, facial enhancement or breast enhancement, now
is the time to join the millions of people who have improved their appearance –
and their self-confidence – through cosmetic surgery.
