Study Shows Positive Side Effect of Breast Augmentation Surgery

People have believed this to be true for years and now there is a study that backs up the claim: Women who have Breast Augmentation surgery are more satisfied with their appearance, their self-image and sexual and psychosocial well-being.

The study, “Analysis of Satisfaction and Well-Being in the Short Follow-up from Breast Augmentation Using the BREAST-Q, a Validated Survey Instrument,” is one of the first of its kind to analyze patient-reported satisfaction and quality of life following Breast Augmentation. The survey instrument that was used in the study is the only one for Breast Augmentation that meets federal and international questionnaire development standards.

Breast Augmentation continues to be the most popular cosmetic surgical procedure for women. In fact, in 2011 alone there were 316,848 procedures done in the United States.

Breast Augmentation is performed to reconstruct breasts after breast removal or to increase breast size using either silicone or saline (salt water) implants. Both types of implants are considered to be safe and can be sized to fit the woman’s body proportion or lifestyle choices.

Because breasts are such an outward sign of femininity and sexuality, it is no surprise that breast implants are now proven to provide women more self-esteem. If you are unhappy with the size of your breasts and are considering breast augmentation surgery, please contact Dr. Fan at 77 Plastic Surgery  to schedule a Breast Augmentation Consultation so we can determine if this procedure might be right for you. Most Popular Cosmetic Surgery Procedures in 2012

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, cosmetic procedures rose 5% in 2012 over 2011, with 14.6 million total cosmetic procedures (both surgical and minimally-invasive) performed in the United States.
The top five cosmetic surgical procedures (in order) include:
The top five minimally-invasive procedures (in order) include:
  1. Botulinum Toxin Type A
  2. Soft Tissue Fillers
  3. Chemical Peel
  4. Laser Hair Removal
  5. Microdermabrasion
Facial rejuvenation procedures saw the largest increase, with facelifts, eyelid surgeries and all of the top five minimally-invasive procedures experiencing jumps from 4% to 8% over 2011. This seems to drive home the fact that more and more people want to erase the effects of time, the sun and environmental factors to look younger. Whether the reason is to better compete with younger people for jobs, relationships or for more personal reasons, cosmetic procedures appear to be making an impact.

If you’re unsatisfied with the way you look and you’ve been considering facial enhancement or body contouring, maybe it’s time to join the millions of people who have given their self-confidence a boost through cosmetic surgery.

Got the “Luck ‘o the Irish” When it Comes to Your Body?

If you look up the origin of the saying, “Luck of the Irish,” you’ll find that most people use it to mean you are actually lucky. Ironically, Irish history states that the Irish often had bad luck.

Regardless of how you might use that popular Irish saying, let’s take a moment to think about luck when it comes to your body. Let’s face it, some people are just born with great genes. Some people have flawless skin, toned tummies and long and lean limbs, while others:

·         Have to fight to keep every extra green beer or corned beef and cabbage calorie from taking up camp on their bodies.
·         Exercise diligently and eat right but still have stubborn fat areas that won’t respond.
·         Have skin that simply ages quicker than others, with pronounced facial lines and wrinkles.

No, it’s not fair. But there is a way to combat what Mother Nature gave you: Cosmetic Surgery. There are dozens of surgical and non-surgical procedures that overall healthy people can undergo to make their own good luck when it comes to their appearance. Think tummy tucks, BOTOX®, liposuction, facelifts, dermal fillers, breast enlargement…the list goes on and on.

There is no need to be miserable with your appearance – especially when cosmetic surgery financing exists to help you afford to look and feel your very best.

So, Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Let 77 Plastic Surgery help you get the good “Luck of the Irish” in regard to your appearance. Daylight Savings is Coming Soon – Get Your Body Ready for Spring

Daylight Savings this year is Sunday, March 10, 2013. That means the start of longer days, more sunshine, warmer temperatures and spring just around the corner (in fact, only 10 days after we “spring forward!”). It also means that swimsuit season is also just a few months away.

If you’re feeling less-than-thrilled (or having “Yikes!” moments) about the prospect of showing more skin this spring/summer, and you’ve been considering treating yourself to a cosmetic procedure to bump up your self-confidence, now is the perfect time to explore your options.

Most cosmetic surgeons offer Cosmetic Consultations to help you identify what type of procedure might enhance your appearance. Maybe that’s a tummy tuck, liposuction or breast augmentation. You have to remember that no two bodies are exactly alike. You may have a friend or family member who had a cosmetic surgery that you wish to emulate, but your specific medical history, overall health or body type may not be right for the procedure you are expecting. No reputable surgeon should ever guarantee you the exact same results as someone else.

By scheduling a Cosmetic Consultation now, you will have plenty of time to research the perfect procedure and locate a surgeon with which you feel 100% confident. And, by having your procedure in the early spring, your body should have plenty of time to recover so you’ll be ready to show off your new look in the summer. (Cosmetic surgery recovery times vary from procedure to procedure, so make sure you plan your surgery well in advance of any special event you plan to attend.)

At 77 Plastic Surgery , we’re excited that Daylight Savings Time is coming and we’re ready to help you look your best this summer. Contact us today to schedule your Cosmetic Consultation in San Francisco and we’ll identify the best procedure for you! Call 415 655 7546 or visit 77plasticsurgery.com.

Why Skin Changes With Age

Whether we like it or not, our skin often gives away our age.

Your skin is the largest organ of your body that is made up of three layers: the epidermis (outer layer), dermis (middle layer) and hypodermis (bottom layer). Each layer has its own distinctive cellular structure and each layer is responsible for different physiological functions. It is your skin that protects you from your external environment, controls your internal body temperature, controls your fluid balance and has nerve receptors to aid in your sense of touch.

Most people are concerned with their epidermis their entire lives. Teenagers often wish to appear more mature by disguising their full faces, while older adults can become increasingly self-conscious about wrinkles, skin spots and sagging skin. People of all ages can become obsessed with getting the “perfect tan” to help them feel more attractive or appear thinner.

Just like other organs in your body, your skin is constantly changing. Over the years, the effects of certain lifestyle choices and genetic makeup will be shown on the skin.

Contributing Factors of Skin Changes
A combination of different factors leads to aging skin:
  • ·         Sun/ultraviolet exposure
  • ·         Stress (physical or psychological)
  • ·         Alcohol and tobacco use
  • ·         Poor nutrition
  • ·         Pollution
  • ·         Hormone changes
  • ·         Muscle contractions in the face from squinting or frowning
  • ·         Genetics
  • ·         Loss of fibrous tissue and collagen depletion
  • ·         Loss in number of pigment-containing cells
  • ·         Changes in connective tissue, making the skin less elastic
  • ·         Less oil production in the sebaceous glands in the skin

You can combat some of the effects of aging on your skin by changing your lifestyle habits. However, for most people, especially fair-skinned/blue-eyed people, wrinkles and skin sagging are an inevitable fact of life.

The good news is that you have options for improving your skin. Cosmetic surgery procedures have proven very effective in reversing the effects of aging skin, helping people to feel more confident and self-assured. Invasive procedures, such as facelifts, necklifts and browlifts, as well as non-surgical procedures, such as BOTOX®, skin lifting or dermal fillers can rejuvenate your appearance. The best way to determine which type of procedure can achieve the look you desire is by scheduling a cosmetic consultation with a reputable cosmetic surgeon.

If you would like to learn more about how cosmetic procedures can fool people into thinking you are as young as you feel, contact Dr. Fan at 77 PLastic Surgery to schedule a cosmetic consultation. Visit   www.77plasticsurgery.com or call 415 655 7546.
