According to
the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, cosmetic procedures rose 5% in 2012
over 2011, with 14.6 million total cosmetic procedures (both surgical and
minimally-invasive) performed in the United States.
The top five
cosmetic surgical procedures (in order) include:
- Botulinum Toxin Type A
- Soft Tissue Fillers
- Chemical Peel
- Laser Hair Removal
- Microdermabrasion
Facial
rejuvenation procedures saw the largest increase, with facelifts, eyelid
surgeries and all of the top five minimally-invasive procedures experiencing jumps
from 4% to 8% over 2011. This seems to drive home the fact that more and more
people want to erase the effects of time, the sun and environmental factors to
look younger. Whether the reason is to better compete with younger people for
jobs, relationships or for more personal reasons, cosmetic procedures appear to
be making an impact.
If you’re
unsatisfied with the way you look and you’ve been considering facial enhancement
or body contouring, maybe it’s time to join the millions of people who have given
their self-confidence a boost through cosmetic surgery.
