Study Shows Positive Side Effect of Breast Augmentation Surgery

People have believed this to be true for years and now there is a study that backs up the claim: Women who have Breast Augmentation surgery are more satisfied with their appearance, their self-image and sexual and psychosocial well-being.

The study, “Analysis of Satisfaction and Well-Being in the Short Follow-up from Breast Augmentation Using the BREAST-Q, a Validated Survey Instrument,” is one of the first of its kind to analyze patient-reported satisfaction and quality of life following Breast Augmentation. The survey instrument that was used in the study is the only one for Breast Augmentation that meets federal and international questionnaire development standards.

Breast Augmentation continues to be the most popular cosmetic surgical procedure for women. In fact, in 2011 alone there were 316,848 procedures done in the United States.

Breast Augmentation is performed to reconstruct breasts after breast removal or to increase breast size using either silicone or saline (salt water) implants. Both types of implants are considered to be safe and can be sized to fit the woman’s body proportion or lifestyle choices.

Because breasts are such an outward sign of femininity and sexuality, it is no surprise that breast implants are now proven to provide women more self-esteem. If you are unhappy with the size of your breasts and are considering breast augmentation surgery, please contact Dr. Fan at 77 Plastic Surgery to schedule a Breast Augmentation Consultation so we can determine if this procedure might be right for you. Be a Positive Role Model for Kids by Showing Self-Assurance

April 25, 2013 marks the 20th Anniversary of the “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work® Day” program. Over the years this educational program has had several objectives, including:

  • Exposing children to what parents/mentors do at work
  • Showing children the value of education
  • Helping children discover the power of a balanced work and home life
  • Helping children envision their future and take steps toward their own goals

We applaud this program and congratulate the organization and everyone who has participated in the event on one level or another.

Children see adults as role models, whether we are cognizant of this or not. Being a productive member of society is one way to be a positive influence; emitting strong self-confidence is another. When you feel good about yourself – both inside and out – you project positive vibes to everyone around you. Children have an uncanny ability to pick up on these vibes and internalize them to themselves.

When you have negative body images or displeasure in any aspect of your outward appearance, those feelings can be unconsciously transferred to the children around you. Cosmetic procedures can help to update your appearance and give you the boost you need to put your best self forward – and project that on to your kids. What a great gift to give yourself and the younger people around you.

With the advances in cosmetic surgery and non-surgical treatments and cosmetic surgery financing options, there is no need to feel self-conscious about your appearance. Take the first step in learning what cosmetic procedures can do for you. Contact Dr. Fan at 77 Plastic Surgery to schedule your Cosmetic Consultation so we can analyze your areas of concern, determine if you are a good candidate for a cosmetic procedure and recommend an appropriate course of action. What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers have gained the name “liquid facelifts” because they can add volume and a youthful appearance to aging faces without the downtime of a surgical facelift. Dermal fillers cost less, but the treatments must be repeated over time to maintain the facial fullness.

The injection of dermal fillers can take years off your appearance and make you look as young on the outside as you feel on the inside.

There are several different types of temporary dermal fillers on the market today that can increase facial fullness, fill deep creases and frown or laugh lines and even stimulate collagen growth. Some are natural substances found in the body, while others are synthetic:
·         Hyaluronic acid (natural): such as JuvĂ©derm and Restylane
·         Calcium hydroxylapatite (natural): such as Radiesse and Radiance
·         Polylactic acid (synthetic): such as Sculptra
·         Collagen (natural): such as CosmoDerm, Cosmoplast, Zyderm, Zyplast
·         Human fat can also be harvested from your own body through liposuction and injected into different areas of your face
The type of dermal filler used will depend on how you want to improve your facial appearance. For example, you may need Restylane to fill facial wrinkles and folds around the mouth or Sculptra to treat hollow cheeks and the loss of facial fat. A qualified doctor can determine which treatment will be the most effective.

The injection of dermal fillers does not usually require long recovery times; most people can resume normal activities after the treatment. There might be a bit of swelling or bruising, but these typically fade within a few days. You’ll see results very quickly with most dermal fillers, except for Polylactic acid, which takes several months to produce results because it is stimulating collagen growth.

Note: BOTOX is not a dermal filler. BOTOX is used to relax the facial muscles to soften frown lines.

Make Your Tax Refund Really Count: Invest in Your Self-Confidence

It’s hard to believe that April 15 (yes, Tax Day!) is just around the corner. Hopefully you’ve almost finished your taxes and have an idea what kind of refund is coming your way.

Did you know the average tax refund in 2012 was $2,700? Regardless of how much you have coming, you’re probably thinking of ways to spend your windfall. Here’s the thing: You could spend your refund on shopping sprees, tropical vacations or spa treatments. But these purchases may leave you feeling a little less-than-fulfilled.

Your outward appearance should bring you joy, not distress. If you’ve been struggling with some aspect of your physical appearance and you’ve been considering a cosmetic procedure, your tax refund could go a long way to helping you improve your self-confidence. There are so many effective surgical and non-surgical options that exist:

  • Dermal fillers, BOTOX®, laser skin resurfacing, sweat treatments and more
  • Breast augmentation, breast lifts, breast reductions
  • Body contouring such as tummy tucks, liposuction, buttock augmentation and more
  • Facial enhancements such as facelifts, neck lifts, brow lifts and more

Of course, your refund may not cover the entire cost of your procedure, but it could take a substantial chunk off the price. And we offer cosmetic surgery financing options to make looking your best more affordable.
Just think of how much you could enjoy your future tax refunds on shopping sprees to dress your new body, tropical vacations to show off your updated appearance or spa treatments to keep you feeling your very best.
